Punch What ?

I have gone to the Devils Punchbowl road race twice in my life. I have no words that would accurately describe either of those two days. I did not leave any valuables there and I will not be returning any time soon.

On Sunday I salvaged the weekend by riding the highway 138 section of the upcoming Amgen Palmdale to Big Bear stage. Always fun to ride by yourself in the San Bernardino mountains. Good luck to all the Radio Shack boys.

What would JT do ?

Last night as we contemplated our faith at crit practice I heard those four words you always dread hearing. " What would Lance do ?"

The Tuesday night world championship in the rain are one thing Crit practice is a whole new world of fun. I will cut to the chase, nobody was harmed , no animals were injured and nobody performed a colonoscopy of a Yellow freight truck.

I took a mental picture of the 20 or so riders as I slipped off the back to the warm safety of my car. Zack and Pony Boy get a rain drop sticker , the rest of the group was made up of the really well insured or too young to care crowd.

That is my last official ride in the rain this year. The next sticker I will be adding to my bike will be a cactus , hello punchbowl.

Where's the saddle ?

Is it time to change that 10 year old saddle ?

Have you ever spent the big bucks to get your bike fitted ? I went down to the OC last week to get my bike fit tweaked. My bike seat issues ranged from Pudendum syndrome to Mersa. I was hanging on to the old seat for reasons that escape me.

If you want to jump start your cycling or just clear up a nasty case of saddle Mersa , I highly encourage a change. Your you know what will thank you !

Its called Tuesday in Portland

The Tuesday night world championships are held rain or shine. Last night it rained. I counted two crashes, a water spout and a small twister. If you made two laps last night see me to get a rain drop sticker for your bike frame.

Patriots Day

The 3rd Monday in April on your calendar probably does not mean anything to most readers of this blog. Extra credit towards getting that all so important balance in your life if you knew the significance.

Today was the 114Th running of the Boston Marathon. In the men's race a course record was set with a 2:o5 and change. It seemed like just yesterday I was chasing Lance Armstrong down Boylston street to the finish line.

On a related note , some of Team Redlands finest were out competing in the Run through Redlands Half marathon on Sunday. El presedente's wife took home a podium spot in the half.

I miss running , but running does not miss me.

PS: We may be holding a Volcano Europe relief fund 5k for Scott !

Crime in the 909

The other day I left me phone at Stells , it was about 6 minutes before I realized my kit was not as heavy as usual. I laid down the rubber hitting speeds of 15 mph to get back to the coffee shop, the horror's that were going through my head.

As luck would have it my phone was not used in coordinating any sales of arms or the restocking of supplies for the neighborhood Mentone Meth lab. No instead the crew at Stells took glam shots of each other, most in the bathroom. I don't know the name of this guy ( latte larry ?) but his head shot is now on my camera.

Thanks to the good Samaritans at Stells , now if the Scum bags who stole Zack's stuff from under my car at crit would just come forward all would be right in the 909.

Yes I have a license

Scott's trip to Europe got me thinking about my own travels and upcoming trips. Cycling is like 5Th on my hobbies list behind such things as wine tasting, independent films and fly fishing.

Yep Fly Fishing ,this summer I will be travelling to Vermont to represent the state of California in fishing. I was going to spend time with my kids this summer but as luck would have it, I don't have any.

Anyhow its April and I just wanted to remind you all to plan a fun trip this summer and don't forget to leave the bike at home.

A postcard from Eurpoe

Scott sent me a postcard from Europe , apparently there is a difference between the girls in Europe and the our mid west hunnie's.

Also I got a text at 4:40 this morning from him did you know there is also a 8 hour time difference from Europe to America.

Scott, said he rode the last 50K of Paris Roubaix today and the french welcomed him with open arms. That sounded nice , but what about the German girls ?

Paris Roubaix next ?

Fabian Cancellara survives mechanical and Tom Boonen to win Flanders.

Fabian said, “With the victory came at the Tour of Flanders for me is a dream come true and this victory is now at the top of my Palmarès. Of course you can compare the Olympics and not a classic one-day race with each other. But the manner in which I have decided the Tour of Flanders for me, I step a much higher than Beijing.”

Fabian also noted he was inspired by Team Redlands rider Scott Manning who rode the course on Saturday. Fabian stated Scott texted him some ride notes and they paid off.

Scott sent a message on Saturday back to the states it simply read hard day. Almost 10 hours. Wild, wild day. I saw some crazy shit today.

Congratulations to Scott , He is officially rider of the month. I can honestly say I had never watched this race on TV or new exactly how wicked hahd it was. I really wonder now if Scott was just kidding when he asked if I wanted to do the ride. I could not finish that ride if every man women and child on earth joined hands. That being said, I want to be the first to to reserve my spot for next year with a non refundable deposit for me and JT.

Lapri Loofs !

Well it was bound to happen. Team Redlands and Team PossAbilities are merging into one team for the remainder of the 2010 season.

Team PossAbilities had been operating under the Pull thru Racing name , this was a division of the Pull thru medical device company.

Apparently Team PossAbilities spent to much money luring away such talent as Abel from Team Redlands.

All riders will wear there respective kits for the remainder of the season until next years team will be unveiled and the kits will be presented.

Next year we will all be racing for Team Tartan with the Tartan of Redlands as the title sponsor. The kits are rumored to be in the Scottish kilt style and evoke that feeling of yest er year.

One rider said " sure the fabric wont breath and the kilts are not very aerodynamic but hey we get free Tartan Burgers on the 3rd Friday of the month. "
