Nudes on what ?

Local cycling legend JT stopped by last night. We were discussing the public option as it relates to health care when the Olympics started. The women's figure skating was the featured event last night. The beauty and grace is truly amazing we both quipped.

Chopper: Hey JT do you remember Nudes on Ice ?

JT: I will call the kirkorian for show times !

Chopper: No JT it was a show in Vegas , let me explain

" The Fiesta Room showcased America's only nude ice revue. That show later moved to downtown's Union Plaza Hotel, calling it "Nudes on Ice." The female skaters would skate around on the ice , naked . You got a Prime Rib Dinner and the Naked show for six bucks including unlimited booze. The show closed in the 90's , Vegas was changing over to the family fun thing. "

JT: So the show is gone ?

Chopper: Yep, let's watch curling.

Better than Obama

Just like Google I monitor the traffic on the Team Redlands unofficial blog. Some Internet sites have counters . I opted for the blogger tracking cookies and fish bowl in lieu of that device. The North Korean syber army has nothing on me.

A recent survey of visitors returned an 80 percent approval rating. Most interesting was the amount of female readers this blog attracted.

Additionally we have seen traffic from a European rider named Giro. I can honestly say I have not met him on a ride yet. But I am keeping an eye out for him. Word is he is doing the rides and looking to make some Team Redlands boys into his personal sock puppet !

I Heart Curling

I only have one observation and question regarding the Winter Olympics. Maybe you can help me with this one.

Question: Why is curling separated into Men's & Women's teams ?

Please don't tell me it's because Women are better sweepers , I don't want another WICAM debacle.

Sears has a photography studio ?

I receive many e-mails regarding Team Redlands members. Most of the inquires are coming from women at meetaninmate.com. Big Momma 109 expressed her displeasure that we have no team photos on our site. She really wants to put some names with some faces ?

Most team's appear to be going with the classic put on your kits , kneel in the front, stand in the back. Two bikes an each flank while Pea cocking in front of the local bike shop that gives you that sweet 20 % discount.

I feel like the women of the NOW-MS Team have a better approach to the classic team photo. Here you can see them after they have all washed and blow dried there hair after a trip to the Gap.

The NOW-MS Women’s Team is comprised of 18 women from various backgrounds. The team includes a stunt woman, a mother of seven, swimsuit model, producer, psychologist, police officer, lawyer and interior designer.

Team Redlands has the same basic make-up of careers with the exception of a stunt women. I just don't know if everyone owns a black shirt.

The Holy Triumbrant

God must really love Federal employees. Highs in the low 80' s, Sleep in till 8am. Yep, today had Oak Glenn written all over it.

Today I decided to ride with three guys I hadn't seen or heard in a while. See back in the day Chopper used to make some green on the greens. Chopper would fly to Vegas and come home with a couple G's and no 1099. Damn I miss those days.

One weekend I played Spyglass and Pebble Beach on the same day. We had a hook up for free play at Pebble Beach. Damn I miss those days.

Anyhow after the round we were all hanging out in the " Tap room " . The guys on the next table were doing some serious drinking. This is gonna sound gay ,but at the time nobody was drinking a liqueur with gold flakes. Those Three guys were the Holy Triumbrant. Geddy Lee, Neil Peart and Alex Lifeson. Yes, RUSH was at the next table and them Canadians were getting a little loud.

So today in honor of the 20 years ago meeting with Rush I loaded the IPOD with the big four loop. Limelight, The spirit of Radio, Tom Sawyer and Freewill.

Rush , 80 degrees and Oak Glenn. That is a holy Triumbrant.

Ants on a Log

Rode the Palm Springs century yesterday. Spent the first hour chasing with Norm and Miller. Good times. Chased again on the big downhill. Got unhitched on Dillon road and worked with Welsh to the pit stop @ 51 miles. didn't stop, kept rolling figured I was behind . About mile 70 ran out of lots of things, water, Gatorade, air in my tires , sense of humour.

Pulled into a Starbucks on 111 to make the repairs. Got re hydrated and made the pilgrimage back to my car. decided to skip the finish line shenanigans my post ride rant would have resulted in me being led away in handcuffs.

So instead of a Ride report I will stick to things I know, things I love, and share a fun filled recipe for the whole family:

Ants on a Log :

5 stalks celery
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup raisins

Little 500 or Valentine's day ?

Race season is coming fast. The classic is next month. Scott is heading to Belgium. Jt has a personal trainer and a quick glance of socalreg shows many Team Cinzano homies are signed up to do some racing.

This Sunday is the toughest Crit of the year. Don't think so , well read on. This Sunday is the mother of all Hallmark holidays. Valentines Day. The field is basically made up of two kinds of people.

1. Men who are married and obviously don't give a shit about the wife and have chosen to head down to Brea instead.

2. Men who ride so much they have no women to speak of in their lives. This also translates into fitness because they never have to be home.

3. Feel like me that holiday's were just invented to keep the middle class down.

Good luck if you race this Sunday. I hear all finishers will receive a Whitman's sampler and Build a bear workshop coupon. Sounds like a nice way to re gift yourself out of the dog house.

PS: Breaking away was nominated for Best Picture in 1980. It was beaten by Kramer Vs. Kramer. Team Kits for the movie cost $3.00 each in 1980. Those same kits cost $ 3.00 to make today. God bless white t-shirt's.

Since my RO to stay 500 feet away from Liz Hatch is still being enforced I need to move along. I have sent the classic housing commission my wish list. Team TIBCO is my first choice. Here is a sneek peak at a big time up and coming talent from there squad.
