Joy Joy Joy

Greg Johnson from Trek said I could either have a new frame or an autographed picture of a major cycling celebrity who rides a Trek. I can't decide.

Will call you when it's ready

I dropped off my bike at the shop today. They said they would call me when it was done. Did I mention I once woke up during a colonoscopy.

The shop has a new apprentice. I like her she has the look one seeks out in a bike mechanic. Just enough ink and grease and the Daisy dukes don't hurt.

tour of switzerland 2010 stage 4 crash

Just another reason I dont take the last corner at Crit unless I have a family member or relative from Indiana in the crowd. For the record I dont have any family members who know I own or ride a bike.

The return of the Apocalypse

Yesterday I decided to role down for the Sunday ride. I decided at 7:58 am , no breakfast and only SPF 55 sunscreen. The Sunday ride used to deliver but for the past year its been really inconsistent again.

Three weeks ago it was Chopper, Zack and the CHP on the ride, we rode in a hail storm and added a new sticker to Team Redlands merit program.

This Sunday was yes, you guessed it the return of the Four Horsemen to the Sunday ride. These are the four collective guys with more cycling stories than a Ken Burns baseball special on PBS. These are the four guys who say how far, how long and how fast. Because when they are there you don't get to say anything. You just keep your mouth shut and hope to god you get home to see your kids.

Now I know there is some dudes wife/girlfriend reading this blog saying hey sweetie how come your not one of the Four Horsemen? Well its been years since the Four Horseman were tagged with that handle and sorry ladies but the boys are all spoken for. You just have to settle for " hey you have good fitness' or I heard you had a " good pull at Crit" guy.

I cant say when the Four Horseman will ride again. I can say that the little ponies who made it out this Sunday will all be receiving there I rode with the Four Horsemen stickers later month.

Lock your doors here comes Hugo !

I will not be at crit again tonight. I am travelling with a summer stock theater group in the Catskills. I landed the role of Hugo in this feel good comedy.

The play was originally written for Orlando Giro but due to immigration problems during the one week stay in Scottsdale they had to make a change . They said my fro would offset the lack of an Italian accent and my skillful handling of all the team redlands groupies would serve me well.

The tour will finish at Prospect Park in July. Its a darn good time for the whole family. bring a blanket and some chicken but dont forget the mosquito spray. The part of Hugo has forced me to wear some cologne that in addition to attacking the ladies has really brought out the bugs. Chow !

Greed is Good

For those of you not aware of this chopper is a bit of a stock picker. A nameless financial planner in town often calls me for a couple of hot picks . I throw him a bone every once in a while. This is the day here is my four star summer pick.

Buy Buy Buy Ancestry.com (ACOM) It is sitting at 15.99 share price. Buy today and sell the sucker when it goes to 22.00 that will be the easiest 6,000 you ever made.

Disclaimer: Choppers stock picks are not affiliated with Team Redlands nor does his summer internship at Goldman Sachs qualify him to make financial decisions. all investments are inherently risky and you should probably keep your money in a mattress during these volatile times.

Memorial day group ride

Monday was Memorial day. What does that mean for me , well if history serves its just a given that I was spending the day spiking volleyballs , drinking a Zima and eating quinoa.

Del Boca vista ( where my father lives) was holding its annual cycling skills clinic. Here are a few of the gals from the compound. Due to a conspiracy at the DMV many seniors are forced to ride bikes ( my father says they have it in for seniors and whitey).

Rose the riveter lives at Del Boca Vista. National security forbids me from disclosing which gal is Rose. Rose is in charge of the team kits. They had to decide between white or a drab burlap sack with vertical stripes. Thankfully team Del Boca vista had the sense to go with the drab burlap.
